Appearance
"Nurse shark"-like appearance with well developed barbels. Spiracles present. Mouth ahead of eyes. Origin of first dorsal fin over the pelvic fin bases. First dorsal fin is bigger than second one. Short precaudal tail with a moderately long caudal fin.
Coloration
Grey, with a white ventral surface and dark saddles. Saddles seem to fade with age.
Distribution
Western Pacific: Australia (Queensland).
Biology
A little-known, bottom-living species found over the continental shelf in inshore waters.
Diet
Unknown.
Size
Average size around 40 cm to 50 cm, maximum total length about 60 cm.
Reproduction
Probably aplacental viviparous (ovoviviparous).
Similar Species
Some species with similar appearance exist and taxonomic features have to be used to clearly distinguish among them.
